If that doesn't fix it then Reinstall Chrome: You can reset new Edge in Edge Settings > Reset Settings, or for old Edge in Settings > Apps > Apps and Features, scroll down to Microsoft Edge, highlight it, choose Advanced Options, then Repair, or if that fails, Reset. This must be an issue with Chromium, and a recent update. This affects both Windows 10 and Windows 11 OS. I checked these computers for firmware updates, but they are up to date. This issue is only affecting users with Dell Desktops (OptiPlex and Precision Towers), and Laptops (Precision) that are less than one year old. Updates had just run on these computers the night prior to the issues, so I uninstalled the security update, however, I could not remove the most recent service stack update. Users told me they didn't add any extensions to their web browsers after receiving computers. Could not clear cache or extensions due to web browser crashing moments after opening. ![]() Lastly, I disabled the antivirus, and attempted. Stopped all none MS services, and ran in a clean boot environment. Ran both Edge and Chrome on each of the compatibility modes. Uninstalled Chrome, and reinstalled using a download from the Firefox web browser. I ran all troubleshooting steps provided online. I am able to send a crash report with screen shot to chrome, so internet connections and has some functionality.įirefox opens and is able to browse without issue. Chrome crashes the same, but with an error code: STATUS_STACK_BUFFER_OVERRUN. ![]() Edge page shows no crash information, just a sad face, and requires use of task manager to close. Edge and Chrome both crash also immediately after opening.
